Keep up with avid hiker Paula Repka as she describes her treks throughout the four counties during Grand Walkabout. She may be on a Catskill High Peak one week and in a gentle, rolling park another. You can add coments about your adventures along the same or other trails.

Do you Geocache?
Grand Walkabout does!

Got a GPS? You can help send four GWA hiking boot “travel bugs,” like the one shown here, on a trip around the world. To find out how, click here.

Poor Henry Hudson. Four hundred years ago, he viewed the beautiful mid-Hudson Valley from the deck of the Half Moon. We’re so much luckier. We can enjoy hundreds of miles of foot trails that scale mountains, meander through meadows, explore historic towns and cities, and look back down at the river from where he gazed upon our countryside.
Black Creek If you like to walk, run, climb, or just stroll,do we have a program for you! Celebrate the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial by exploring the foot trails in New York State’s Ulster, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam Counties - some of the most beautiful scenery you’ll find anywhere in the world.

Enjoy trails that range from paved, easy-strolling rail trails to rocky scrambles up mountainsides. Choose whatever matches your skills and your idea of a good time.

Register with Grand Walkabout, track your miles and trails traveled through September of 2009, and earn awards for your efforts. We’ll send you a pedometer, while supplies last, to help you keep track. It’s all free, even the pedometer.

You also can become a friend of Grand Walkabout on Facebook. It's a good way to keep up with GWA news and hang out with other walkers and hikers. You might use it to pull together a hiking group of your own, or to get ideas of new places to go.

Click on the Trails List button at left and download a list of trails in the four counties. Behind the Log Your Miles button is a tally form to keep track of your adventures.
